The 31st Congress of the European Society of Cardiology was held from 29 August to 2 September 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. Summaries of the preliminary results of 7 of the 16 studies presented during three Hotline sessions are discussed below. The remaining nine studies have been published: PLATO (N Engl J Med 2009;361:1108–1111), RELY (N Engl J Med 2009;361:1139–1151), SEPIA-ACS TIMI-42 (Lancet 2009;374;787–795), the GRACE left main study (Eur Heart J 2009;30:2308–2317), the ISAR-TEST-4 study (Eur Heart J 2009;30:2441–2449), the KYOTO Heart Study (Eur Heart J 2009;30:2461–2469), the European CRT Survey (Eur Heart J 2009;30:2450–2460), the MADIT-CRT trial (N Engl J Med 2009;361:1329–1338), and NORDISTEMI [J Am Coll Cardiol 2009 (Epub ahead of print)].
